A Starvation Crisis
While healthcare systems and hospitals are overwhelmed and on the brink of collapse, another crisis is forming for thousands of day labourers who are falling through the cracks without any safety nets.
As strict lockdowns are imposed, these labourers are left stranded, unable to work and earn money. Forced to stay at home, they cannot buy food for their families.
The heartbreaking result is that these families are in more danger of starvation than contracting COVID.
Our Response
In 2020, as the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic hit India, through our trusted partner we were able to help provide food packs and hygiene and medical kits for thousands of families across the region.
With the current crisis, we’re again focusing our efforts on providing these resources to those who have lost work and are in desperate need. We are working to distribute a one-month supply of food rations and medicine packs to families impacted by the crisis.
