Exists to prospect and develop relationships that result in acquiring new partners and solicit funds from new and existing financial partners, churches, corporations, and foundations to meet and support Operation Mobilization’s mission and growth plans.

Development Officer will work to advance the mission of Operation Mobilization and is responsible for the management, identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardships of OM’s financial partners.

Development and Stewardship:
Together with the Development Department, develop a strategy for donor development to resource the ministry of OM.

Core activities:
1.Implement a gift acquisition strategy for partners and prospects capable of annual gifts in excess of $5000.
2.Develop donor profile plans, set goals, develop and build activity calendar to realize revenue objectives.
3.Manage relationship with donors (existing and potential) obtained through Development Department and through personal networking.
4.In collaboration with the Development Department, host appropriate donor events to inform existing donors and cultivate partnerships with potential donors.
5.Coordinate donor visits to OM fields to experience the ministry as needed.

Research and Communication:
Expand and broaden the major donor, foundation and church support base of OM Canada.
Core activities:
1.Research and network to discover qualified individuals, churches and foundations to fund OM ministries.
2.Communicate persuasively OM’s ethos, vision, mission and priorities.
3.Work in partnership with OM field staff and OM Canada’s Development Department to achieve funding needs.
4.Meet donor’s stewardship objectives and OM’s funding goal with servant’s heart.
5.Regularly communicate to keep major donors abreast with ministry updates, outcomes and impact to engage donors for long-term partnerships.

Church Relations:
Establish, maintain and develop outcome based partnerships with churches in order to mobilize church members to pray, give and go.
Core activities:
1.Mobilizing the Canadian church to strategically participate in missions in the least reached areas of the world.
2.Build relationships with churches already partnering with OM to ensure appreciation is shown for their partnership.
3.Develop relationships with potential partner churches.
4.Actively represent the ministry of OM in churches and connect churches to OM fields, projects and ministries.

Minimum preferred requirements
•Significant donor development experience or equivalent qualification.
•Ability to make an effective presentation and ask for financial partnership.
•A positive, professional attitude and demeanor.
•Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial, team oriented, and mission driven environment.

Required knowledge
•Excellent communication skills.
•Demonstrated persuasive presentation skills and experience as well as the ability to convey complex information in a clear manner to a diverse audience.
•Strong administrative skills and self-motivated with the ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks under minimal supervision in effective and efficient manner.

Technical competencies
•Knowledge of fundraising information sources.
•Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies.
•Knowledge and familiarity with research techniques for fundraising.
•Strong computer skills including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and internet.

Note: This is role support-based meaning that the candidate would be required to raise a portion of their salary and employment costs.
