Regional Development Officer (BC/AB)

Exists to plan and implement fundraising and development initiatives for Operation Mobilization Canada. The primary focus is to secure financial resources, build new partner relationships, cultivate existing relationships with donors and supporters, and promote the mission and the projects of OM.

The Regional Development Officer will work to advance the mission of OM and is responsible for the management, identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardships of OM’s financial partners.

A. Development and Stewardship:
Together with the Director of Development, develop a strategy for donor development to resource the mission and projects of OM.

Core activities:
1. Develop donor profile plans, set goals, develop, and build activity calendar to realize revenue objectives.
2. Manage relationships with donors (existing and potential) on a personal level, keeping them informed about the activities and impact of OM. This includes regular communication, updates, and expressions of gratitude.
3. Implement a gift acquisition strategy for partners and prospects capable of annual gifts over $5,000.
4. Record donor interactions and engagement activities using existing donor management software.
5. Coordinate donor visits to OM fields to experience the ministry as needed.

B. Research and Communication:
  Expand and broaden the major donor, foundation and church support base of OM Canada.

Core activities:
1. Research and network to identify potential individuals, churches, foundations, and corporations who align with the mission and interests of OM.
2. Research and apply for grants from foundations and other funding bodies.
3. Communicate persuasively OM’s ethos, vision, mission, and priorities.
4. Meet donor’s stewardship objectives and OM’s funding goal with servant’s heart.
5. Regularly communicate to keep major donors abreast with ministry updates, outcomes and impact to engage donors for long-term partnerships.

C. Event Management:
Plan and coordinate fundraising events in the region aimed at engaging current partners and cultivating new ministry partners.

Core activities:
1. In collaboration with the Development Department, host appropriate donor events and initiatives to inform existing donors and cultivate partnerships with potential individuals, corporations, foundations, and churches.
2. Establish relationships with venues and vendors and liaise with all stakeholders during the planning process.
3. Determine costs and submit budgets to the Director of Development, maintain budgets during the process, and review budgets following each event.
4. Plan event aspects such as seating, dining, and guest lists, and supervise event set-up and tear down.

D. Ministry involvement:
Ensure active involvement in OM team life at your location and online, when possible, in order to ensure you are ministering to others and being ministered to. 

Core activities
1. Actively participate on a regular basis in team devotions, prayer times, meetings, and social functions.
2. Serve practically within the team to ensure whatever needs to be done is done well and the load is shared around. 
3. Seek to be an encouragement to your fellow team members.

This is a salaried position.

Live opportunities are unsalaried. Most people joining OM have to raise financial support to cover their living expenses, usually through gifts from home churches and other supporters.
