Located on a highway near the border of Croatia, OM is providing help for the refugees in Adaševci Refugee Camp. OM's ‘Tea Tent’ in the camp is a space for the refugees to come and pass time, play games, relax and chat with our volunteers. You will be involved in providing drinks in the OM tea tent, keeping the tent area clean, working in the camp laundry, socializing with refugees, and sharing Christ’s love with them while respecting the rules of the camp.

  • Ministry Details

Serving in the camp includes practical service, doing laundry for the refugees, making and serving tea and coffee, general duties involved in running the tea tent and laundry and to spend time with the refugees sharing our faith in Jesus Christ. When there is time, there is opportunity to play sports with the refugees, organise games or crafts or even do some informal language lessons. We need volunteers all the time and are very flexible with dates and length of stay.

Should be flexible, have the ability to work in teams, easily adaptable to new circumstances, heart to serve and work among Muslims, and is able to work under the authority of the local OM team and government officials in the camp.

Will there be accomodation provided?
Accommodation fees are included in the fees that are paid to the team coordinator. She will settle the bill with the place you stay. Do not expect to have a single room.
Will there be food provided?
We do not provide meals, self-catering is around 6-8€ a day, which is extra to the weekly fee paid.
Do I need to make my own travel arrangements?
Due to Covid there are limited options to go to Šid by public transportation. We can arrange airport pick up and drop off. This will cost additional 30€ each way.
What should my health condition be like?
If you have allergies or some medical history (depression, food disorder etc.) please make sure to point that out to the sending field BEFORE arranging your trip. The conditions at the camp are poor and diseases can spread easily. Make sure you have the basic hygiene and medical supplies with you that you need.
Do I need a visa?

Anyone with a European passport, not needing a visa for EU countries, or in possession of a Schengen visa can enter Serbia. Otherwise, we are not able to provide an invitation letter for visas. Please check with your home office for more information.

* Language: It is a must that you understand and speak English. If you doubt your capability to communicate in English or are unsure, please ask your home office for more information. Languages present among the refugees are: Farsi, Pashto, Arabic, Urdu and Kurdish. **Camp: Previously, the camp was a mix of families and singles. Currently, the camp residents are mainly single guys, with the occasional women coming through. Both men and women are welcome to come and serve – you will not be alone in the camp! *** Dates: We need volunteers all the time, you can also come in another period than mentioned above!

Kids 'n' Things Academy Summer

The Kids ‘n’ Things Academy is our training programme for children’s workers. Through the Academy sessions, you will learn theory, theology and skills which will help you to develop in children’s ministry. You will have the opportunity to use and develop many of the skills taught in the Academy while delivering the Lionheart holiday club programme '‘Lionheart and the Ultimate Gaming Adventure’ in churches, which you will learn with the team when you arrive. Each day there is a fast moving, entertaining two-hour programme, designed for children to enjoy themselves as they learn the truth about God and about themselves.
