Looking to use your gift of dance to make Jesus known? Looking for a way to use dance in ministry on an ongoing basis? Then dancing with Freestyle Dance Ministry (FDM) could be for you! This opportunity will provide you with the training you need to reach children, youth and young adults in churches and schools, through the gift of dance. This opportunity includes 6 days at OM’s Teenstreet discipleship camp, followed by a 2 week outreach in Brisbane and surrounds.

The opportunity will begin with serving at Teenstreet discipleship camp, west of Brisbane where you will be trained in camp leadership skills such as Bible Study facilitation and team planning, as well as assistance with Freestyle Dance Ministry related activities while on camp. You will then be ‘sent out’ following Teenstreet and will be working with schools and churches with Freestyle Dance Ministry, in and around Brisbane, Queensland. You will get to experience the excitement and joy of serving as part of the OM team on camp, and will then be lead by FDM leader; Justin Seidel throughout the outreach component following Teenstreet.

Over the approximate 2-week outreach period you will be assisting with the teaching of FDM workshops in schools and churches. You will be instructed in the role of assisting in the teaching of dance routines and the sharing of a faith message/testimony during the workshop, as well as the set-up and pack down of technical equipment.

FDM is looking for applicants who are committed to their faith and have a desire to see children and youth come to know Jesus. Other attributes that are also desirable are: - Experience teaching Hip-hop dance or other style/s of dance - Experience with public speaking - Experience serving on short-term missions or youth camps - A willingness to be challenged and grow
Will there be accomodation provided?
Possible arrangements include the following: Host families, Host Mission/Bible college accommodation, AirBnb/Hotels. Please note that it is expected that participants engage with host family related activities such as devotion times, social activities etc throughout the duration of our stay.
Will there be food provided?
Breakfast and dinners will be provided by host accommodation. The team will be grocery shopping approximately once a week for food for our lunches, as lunch is often eaten between workshops while on outreach. Whole group grocery fees are covered by your mission cost. You are free to buy your own takeaway or additional grocery items/personal items at appropriate times as you wish at your own expense.
Do I need to make my own travel arrangements?
Please make your own way to Brisbane on, or prior to the 1st July. Travel costs will be covered when travelling with the team whilst on outreach from this date onwards until the conclusion of the outreach on the 24th July. You will then be provided with transport back to Brisbane airport. Please let us know if you have a Driver’s License or if you are able to bring your own car to assist with travel whilst on outreach. Travel expenses for tour related use of your vehicle will be covered.
What should my health condition be like?
You will need to have very good physical and mental health to participate in this opportunity. Participants should be prepared for 2 - 4 hours of dancing per day, multiple days in a row, as well as the unique challenges that arise as a result of the unpredictablity of life ‘on the road.’
Do I need a visa?

Currently only available for Australian residents.

FDM operates outreach to Australian churches and schools for approximately 9 months each year.
