In 2023, Sumina*, a single mum living with HIV/AIDS, was struggling to raise her seven-year-old son, Susil*. She worried about how they could survive on the little income they had.
That all changed when Sumina and Susil were invited to a Christmas event held by AIDSLink South Asia. There, they were told AIDSLink would help Susil with school-related expenses to ensure he could continue his education. As part of the support, Asthi*, an AIDSLink worker, regularly visited their home to share, support and encourage them, which Sumina welcomed with joy.
“Before I was worried about not having enough money,” Sumina shared with Asthi, “but now I know that if God provides for the birds, then He surely will care for us because we are much more valuable.” Surprised that Sumina quoted from the Bible, Asthi asked how she knew Scripture. “I am reading the Children’s Bible you gave us at the Christmas event,” Sumina replied. “Since then, I read it every night. I believe what it says is true.”
Through the care of Asthi and others at AIDSLINK, Sumina discovered the love God has for her and Susil and gave her life to Christ. Her life is now full of hope!
