In his final year of school, Justin Seidel started breakdancing classes. A decision that would change his life and go on to touch the lives of many young Australians.

When Justin started the classes, God began His work with him. With his newfound skills, Justin started reaching out to those in need through dance, and eventually, he had an idea: to use dance as a platform to share his faith. Now, Justin has been impacting Australia’s youth for almost 10 years through OM’s Freestyle Dance Ministry (FDM).

“Over the summer before starting year 12, I watched a lot of dance movies. I just got inspired – it was like something was going through my eyes into my heart,” he shares.

When Justin returned to school, he met a student a year below him who was into breakdancing. They started taking classes together. “There was also a hip-hop class run by the local Council that was on my bus line, so I started taking classes there as well. It was so small, there were only two other dancers in the class, no one knew about it.”

Justin’s ‘light bulb’ moment came when he was 20, attending a Lutheran Christian Youth Camp. “I found what I thought was an old magazine in a pile of newspapers. They were for kindling to start the big fireplace in the hall. The magazine turned out to be a book, and it was the New Testament, but it actually came with a Christian hip-hop CD,” he shares. “That’s the moment I heard Christian hip-hop music for the first time—the artists were passionate about their faith and their craft. I thought the combination of the two was just the coolest thing ever.”

Growing up in a Christian family in Melbourne, God had been working in Justin’s life for many years, developing his faith, a love for music and dance, and a heart to share Christ with young people. Now, he brings a unique mix of dance, storytelling and humour to schools and churches he visits.

The travelling ministry aims to grow faith in the next generation by revealing God through dance workshops and testimonies that deeply connect with kids and teens. “It’s a powerful way to communicate and engage with them,” he says.

Even some of the parents have had a go at the routines, with one parent recently commenting, “The dancing, it’s so physical, you can not only see God at work, you can feel God at work. When you’re dancing along, the impact is so personal and direct, it’s so involving.”

Using high-energy dance moves, Justin makes it fun, and kids look forward to it. By returning to many of the same locations each year, the outreach ministry has built relationships and reinforced the message of Jesus with students, parents and staff.

“And when someone sees that they can get excited by Jesus in this way, they want to share that with their friends, and we want to see this more and more going forward,” Justin added.

In 2024, FDM reached over 9,600 children through 220 workshops across 97 locations in Australia, visiting schools, church groups and Christian camps. Each year, the ministry is growing.

“Some kids like to practice and teach the dance moves with their friends. To keep the momentum going, we’ve created a series of videos,” says Justin. With five videos already released on YouTube, Justin is looking forward to releasing another nine videos across 2026.

In the meantime, Justin plans to keep dancing and to show youth and teens that the Christian community is loving and that Jesus is for them. “It’s such a privilege working with young people,” he shares. “Being involved in outreach, I’m going to where they are. Seeing love come to life, seeing change right in front of my eyes, and experiencing something directly with them.”
